MCoBeauty, in consultation with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), is recalling batch A1772 expiry 07/2026 of MCoBeauty SPF 50+ Mineral Mattifying Sunscreen (a discontinued product) due to potential inconsistency in the SPF level of the product.
Preliminary results from independent re-testing of the manufacturer base formulation used in MCoBeauty SPF 50+ Mineral Mattifying Sunscreen demonstrated inconsistency in the SPF level of the tested sample.

This product was a discontinued SKU, last manufactured in July 2023. Recent re-testing of the manufacturer’s base formulation indicates that this product may provide a lower level of sun protection than the SPF 50+ claimed, which means it may not provide the expected level of safety against UV exposure.

What testing has been undertaken?
MCoBeauty Mattifying Mineral SPF 50+ Sunscreen was manufactured using the same base formulation as a number of other sunscreens. Independent testing indicates that the base formulation may not meet the claimed SPF 50+ protection level and was found to provide protection no greater than SPF 21.

What are you doing to make sure this never happens again?
We want to reassure you that this matter was entirely outside of MCoBeauty’s control. The product in question was manufactured to all required Australian regulatory standards by a highly reputable manufacturer. The current investigation relates to the independent testing laboratory engaged by multiple sunscreen brands; not to MCoBeauty or our manufacturing partner. We remain fully committed to product safety, regulatory compliance, and transparency, and will continue to keep our partners updated as the investigation progresses.
Will SPF 50+ Mineral Mattifying Sunscreen return?
It is a discontinued sku however we are always looking at bringing new and exciting products to market so you may see a reformulated version in the future.
